How to Check Your UAE Work Permit and Contract Online (MOHRE)

You can check your UAE work permit and labour contract online for free through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). Use the MOHRE enquiry website or the MOHRE app with your transaction number, person code or passport details. Your visa (residence) status is checked separately on the ICP or GDRFA Dubai portals.

Why you should check your work permit and contract

Many workers in the UAE never see their official contract. Checking online helps you:

Make sure your work permit is real and still valid.
See the salary, job title and contract type registered with MOHRE.
Compare what you were promised with what is officially approved.
Avoid working illegally. A visit or tourist visa does not give you the right to work.
Collect proof in case you need to make a complaint later.

How to check on the MOHRE enquiry website

The MOHRE enquiry portal lists many services, including “Electronic Work Permit Information”, “View Approved Contract”, “Enquiry for Job Offer”, “Application Status” and “Domestic Worker Enquiry”.

Check your work permit

Open inquiry.mohre.gov.ae in your phone browser.
Choose Electronic Work Permit Information.
Enter the details the form asks for, such as your person code or permit number and date of birth.
Type the security code (captcha) and search.
Check your name, company, job title and the permit expiry date.

Check your job offer or approved contract

On the enquiry portal, choose View Approved Contract or Enquiry for Job Offer.
Search by transaction number, or by passport number, nationality and date of birth. Some forms also allow the Emirates ID number.
Complete the captcha and submit.
Open or download the contract in PDF form.
Check your basic salary, total salary, job title, contract start date and working terms.

Tip: Save a copy of your contract on your phone and send one to a family member. It is useful proof if a dispute happens.

How to check using the MOHRE app

Download the official MOHRE app (published by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation) from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Log in with UAE Pass.
Look for your personal or labour details section to see your work permit and contract information. Menu names can change after app updates.
Use the app’s services to follow applications or submit complaints.

Only download the app from official stores. Never pay anyone to “check your file” for you, since these checks are free.

Is your salary paid through WPS?

The Wage Protection System (WPS) is the UAE’s electronic system for paying private sector salaries, so MOHRE can see if wages are paid on time. Signs that you are paid through WPS:

Your salary comes into a bank account or a payroll card in your name.
The amount matches the salary in your MOHRE contract.
You are paid on a regular date each month.

2026 change: Under a new MOHRE resolution in force from 1 June 2026, private sector salaries are due by the first day of the following month. Pay after that date counts as delayed. Companies face warnings, then work permit suspension, fines and further action if they do not pay. A company is treated as compliant if it pays at least 85% of total wages on time, but every worker keeps the right to their full salary.

If your salary is paid in cash with no record, or is often late, keep your own notes of dates and amounts. You can report it (see below).

Check your visa status on ICP or GDRFA

Your work permit (MOHRE) and your residence visa are separate. Check the visa with the authority of the emirate that issued it:

Tas-heel and Tawjeeh centres

Tas-heel centres are MOHRE-approved service centres where many labour transactions, such as contracts and permits, are processed. Staff can also help you find your file details.
Tawjeeh centres are MOHRE-licensed centres that run awareness sessions for workers on labour law, contracts, wages and leave, in many languages. They can also explain how to file a complaint.

Take your passport, Emirates ID and any documents from your employer when you visit.

How to report a problem

If your contract, permit or salary is wrong, first try to solve it politely with your employer in writing. If that fails:

Collect proof: contract copy, salary messages, bank statements, and photos of documents.
File a complaint on the MOHRE website or MOHRE app.
For late or unpaid wages, use the “My Salary Complaint” service. It is free, and MOHRE does not tell your employer who filed it. MOHRE says it is completed within 14 working days.
Call MOHRE on 600590000 for help.
Keep your complaint number and follow updates.

MOHRE usually tries to settle disputes between worker and employer first. If not settled, the case can move to the labour courts.

Note for domestic workers

Housemaids, nannies, drivers, cooks and other domestic workers are covered by a separate law, Federal Decree-Law No. 9 of 2022, not the main private sector labour law. The MOHRE enquiry portal has a Domestic Worker Enquiry service. Since April 2025, WPS payment is mandatory for some domestic job types (such as private teachers, private trainers and home caregivers) and optional for others. Domestic workers can also seek help from MOHRE through its official channels.

Free zone employees may be registered with their free zone authority instead of MOHRE, so ask your employer where your permit is issued.
